English Text

Modern democracy is not merely a political system; it is the culmination of a long historical evolution encompassing political philosophies, revolutions, and varied governmental experiments. Democracy rests on principles of popular participation, separation of powers, and human rights, yet implementing these principles requires alignment between institutions and civil society.

Despite its widespread adoption, democracy faces complex challenges such as political polarization, corruption, and insufficient civic engagement. Moreover, technology and social media exert a dual influence: they can enhance political participation but also serve as channels for misinformation and erosion of public trust.

A deep understanding of modern democracy necessitates examining diverse global experiences and analyzing how culture, history, and economics interact with democratic institutions. Such analysis enables a critical appreciation of the effectiveness of democratic systems and their capacity to evolve in meeting contemporary societal needs.
