On the positive side, social media provides social support, facilitates access to communities with shared interests, and raises awareness about mental and health issues. Conversely, it can lead to social pressure, constant comparison with others, and increased levels of anxiety and depression, particularly among teenagers and young adults.

The psychological impact also depends on how the platform is used. Passive browsing and continuous monitoring without interaction can increase feelings of isolation, whereas positive use and constructive engagement can benefit mental health. This highlights the importance of balance and digital awareness in using these tools.

Ultimately, the impact of social media on mental health is neither wholly negative nor positive; it depends on how we use it, our awareness of its effects, and our ability to set healthy boundaries that protect our mental well-being.
