Last year, I met a new friend from a different country while attending a language course abroad. She was from South Korea, and it was amazing to discover how similar we were despite our different cultural backgrounds. At first, I was nervous about saying something inappropriate or misunderstanding her because of the language, but we quickly found ways to communicate.
We talked about food, traditions, and holidays in our countries. She was surprised by how much people in my country love tea, while I was fascinated by how Koreans celebrate the Moon Festival. Sometimes, we laughed about small misunderstandings, but they made our conversations even more fun.
Over time, our friendship grew stronger, and I learned that cultural differences are not barriers but opportunities to learn and connect. Now, when I meet people from other cultures, I feel curious and confident instead of afraid.
This experience taught me that respecting customs and listening carefully are the keys to successful communication between people from different backgrounds.
