When I started working at an international company two years ago, it was my first time working with people from different cultures. At first, I found it a bit difficult because the way of communication and working styles were different from what I was used to in my home country.
For example, some colleagues like to discuss every detail before making a decision, while others prefer to decide quickly. I also noticed that body language and ways of expressing opinions vary a lot between cultures. In some meetings, silence meant thinking, while in my culture, I used to see it as disagreement.
Over time, I learned to be more open-minded and flexible. I started asking questions when I didn’t understand something and tried to see other people’s perspectives instead of judging them. I also realized that diversity in a team can be a real strength because it brings together different ideas and experiences.
Now, I enjoy working in a multicultural environment because it allows me to learn something new every day — about the world and about myself too.
